I Have Approximately 1791245 Questions About Kim and Kanye’s Sink

Culture

In Kim Kardashian West’s Vogue cover story, she dropped some news (she’s going to be a lawyer, surprise!) and invited us normals into the home she shares with Kanye West. In an accompanying video, viewers get a full tour of her family’s Calabasas mansion, described by Kim as “a minimal monastery.” We get to see quite a lot of the house, including a bedroom (with cameos from Kanye, North, Saint, and Chi), extensive hallways, gorgeous garden views, and a gigantic kitchen. Twitter was quick to respond, with some observers noting the lack of furniture and others marveling at the building’s luxe extravagance.

But one element of their home in particular caught a lot of attention, and even sparked an online debate: Kim and Kanye’s sinks.

I am…confused. I have a lot of questions. Where does the water go? Does someone come and whisk all the water away? Is there a drain? Is that tiny dark spot the drain? If there is a drain, how does the water get there? Do these sinks even work? Or are they just for aesthetic purposes? Is it an illusion? Are they magic? Is there water? Are they…sinks? What do I do if I have a loogie? Am I too broke to understand this?

On Twitter, others were also confused. Do the Wests have sink covers, or are there tiny holes in the stone that we can’t see? Is the stone absorbent, somehow? Uhhhhh! So complicated! Here are the best explanations, questions, and reactions re: Kim and Kanye’s mysterious sink.
