Depending on how much protein I need, I add one or two scoops to coffee, soups, pasta sauces, or smoothies. Although it claims it can be mixed into hot and cold liquids, I find it blends easier in warm temps, which is why I add it to hot veggie soup or warmed pasta sauce.

Not only are collagen peptides packed with protein, but they’re also flavorless. I can add it to pretty much anything and can’t taste it. I’ll sometimes add a scoop to a cup of hot herbal tea, and it doesn’t interfere with the subtle flavor of the tea. I’ve recently started using a new protein powder, Vega Protein Made Simple ($17), which I love because it only has a handful of clean ingredients and is just 100 calories. However, it only has 15 grams of protein per serving. I’ll throw in one scoop of collagen peptides to add nine grams of protein for just 35 calories.

That way, if the breakfast situation is sketchy, I at least know I can add some satiating protein to my morning coffee.
